Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I scan the ocean?

  1. Open the app and tap on the scan button.

  2. Tap "Take Photo"

  3. Align the camera with the swimming area.

  4. Snap a photo and the app will automatically detect any rip currents.

Why isn't the scanner working?

  • Ensure your camera permissions are enabled in your device settings.

  • Make sure the lighting is sufficient for clear scanning.

  • Hold the camera steady and focus on the swimming area.

  • If the issue persists, restart the app and try again.

How accurate is RipGuard?

Our app uses advanced AI to detect rip currents, with an accuracy of 92%. However, AI technology is inherently imperfect and may generate incorrect or incomplete results. Ocean conditions are unpredictable, and rip currents can form or disappear rapidly, beyond the capability of any detection system. RipGuard is not a substitute for personal judgment, lifeguard warnings, or official weather and safety advisories. The User assumes all risks associated with relying on the RipGuard's outputs and understands that misinterpretation or malfunction may lead to serious injury, drowning, or death.
